Story:

Before: An active family despised their dingy basement and wanted to add more living space, additional storage, and a second bathroom.

After: A multi-purpose living area provides space for various activities and pampers mom with a luxurious bathroom.

Highlights Basement:

      • Relocating the boiler and water heater allowed for increased flow and larger rooms.
      • Luxury vinyl plank flooring provides a resilient, water-resistant floor while adding warmth and sophistication.
      • A laundry closet, with stackable washer/dryer and utility sink, provides function without using up valuable square footage.
      • A fully-finished closet in the hall allows the homeowners to easily store off-season clothing and shoes.
      • The storage area under the stairs is also finished and boasts a custom angled door for easy access.
      • Budget-friendly bookshelves in the hall provide a place for books while adding visual interest.
      • The multi-purpose family room, complete with egress window, provides space for the family to hang out, do schoolwork and play music. It also serves as a guest room for out-of-town visitors.
      • A secondary closet in the family room provides much-needed additional storage.
      • The staircase is a great example of classic-meets-modern with maple balusters, newel post and treads stained to match the flooring. The reconfigured floor joists at the base of the stairs allows for proper head-clearance.
      • A finished ledge along the side of the stairs provides a place to display knickknacks and plants.
      • The unfinished utility room is accessed from the family room and boasts a generous work bench for DIY projects.

Highlights Bathroom:

      • The bathroom is spacious and welcoming with its soft color palette, decorative floor tile, and brushed gold fixtures.
      • The large walk-in shower includes a hand shower, recessed niche and custom Corian shower pan.
      • A semi-custom vanity and linen tower provide plenty of storage and ample countertop space.
      • The bathroom was designed around the existing sauna (keeping it was a must!) so we dressed it up with a new door and traditional knotty pine paneling.
