Dutch Colonial Second-Floor Addition - Hanson Remodeling

Before: A growing family needed an additional bedroom, a larger primary bedroom, increased storage, and a functional bathroom.

After: An addition, new dormer, and reconfiguration of space on the existing second-floor created 3 bedrooms and one bathroom all on one level.

The addition was built on top of the existing kitchen and seamlessly blends into the original architecture
A new crawl space with proper footings was added beneath the existing kitchen to provide necessary support for the second-floor addition
A dormer was installed on the side of the home to create an additional bedroom
The existing bathroom along with a small remaining bedroom were removed and reconfigured to add a hallway with built-in storage, an updated bathroom, and a walk-in closet
A linen cabinet was built into the hallway wall to resemble original built-ins often present in this era of architecture
New hardwood floors were laced in with the existing hardwood floors to carry the original design element throughout the new spaces
The new bathroom consists of a tub/shower, larger vanity, and linen cabinet – thereby increasing the family’s amount of storage for towels and toiletries
New shingles were installed on the entire home to blend the addition and create a more pleasing aesthetic
